habitatAs we’ve mentioned, this summer is a busy one for the Dallas County Habitat for Humanity organization and help is needed to help make their many projects a success.

Outreach Coordinator Omar Padilla says it takes a lot of hands to make the work manageable.

“We need sponsors, we need donors because without money it’s hard to get the materials, the tools and the equipment that we need.  But also we need volunteers.  We need people that are willing to swing a hammer.  You don’t have to know how to do it, we will coach you, we will train you.”

Steering Committee Member Pastor Jeremy Winter says there are jobs available for people of all abilities.

“We’ll take any volunteer.  You don’t have to be able to swing a hammer, you don’t have to physically be able to.  We need all kinds of people and there’s all kinds of jobs on these projects and so whoever you are, whatever your skill level is, we can use you and you can do some good.  Don’t feel like you’re too old or you’re out of shape or you don’t know what you’re doing.  Just come and try out.  See how fun it is and see what we can have you do.”

Padilla and Winter will share more about the local Habitat organization on today’s Let’s Talk Dallas County during the 9am, noon and 5pm hours.
