The Jefferson City Council recently approved another year contract for City Administrator Mike Palmer.

He is starting his ninth year as City Administrator and says he’s thankful to have the confidence from the Council to stay on for another year. He points out one of the reasons why his time has been successful working for the City is because everyone works together.

“You hear that (saying), ‘it takes a village,’ this is really what it is. It’s small town at it’s best when people can just get along. Not everybody agrees on everything, but when they do disagree, they’re reasonable about their disagreement and point it out and everybody listens and then we move on. I think that’s really a lot of the reason that things have continued to go forward. People have a lot of enthusiasm.”

Palmer also serves on the Greene County Development Corporation Board, the Kiwanis and Rotary clubs as well as Jefferson Matters: Main Street.

His new contract was extended through June 30, 2017 with a salary of $90,000.
