Greene County has six wins in its last eight games after defeating South Hamilton last night in Jewell in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference baseball game. The 8-4 victory improves Coach Mark Sawhill’s team to 9-14 overall and 5-9 in the conference.
Senior Tyler Beger threw all seven innings for the victory. He allowed just two earned runs on four hits, two walks and two hit batsmen. Beger fanned five. The Rams had four errors and left 11 runners on base while the Hawks were charged with one error and they left eight.
Chase Stolne and Tom Gannon batted first and second and they each singled three times, and Gannon drove in a run. Number three hitter Reid Lamoureux added two singles, as did Austin Delp, who also had one RBI. Calvin Skalla had a base hit and drove two runners in, and Branden Miller had a single and one run batted in.Wade Adcock had an RBI on a bases loaded walk.
The Rams scored four runs in the first inning, then added three in the sixth and one in the seventh. SH scored once in the third and three times in the bottom of the seventh.
Greene County is off tonight and plays Roland-Story Thursday night in Story City.
