A reminder that most offices and businesses in Jefferson are closed today, due to the 4th of July holiday.
The Greene County Courthouse, Greene County Chamber office, Greene County Extension office, Greene County Community Center, Jefferson City Hall, Jefferson Public Library and the Jefferson Post Office are all closed. The Jefferson Municipal Pool will close at 4pm today.
The library staff would like to remind everyone that nothing is due to the library when it is closed for a holiday. Jefferson City staff also reminds residents that due to the holiday today, garbage routes will be delayed one day and will return to their normal schedules the following week.
Everyone is also reminded about the free fireworks show tonight. City Administrator Mike Palmer says the City pays $3,000 every year to set off fireworks.
“Do we keep doing this, the fireworks, or is there other programs that it can go to. But it keeps coming back to, it is a great form of entertainment, it really brings a lot of people to the community. It’s just a really nice thing to have (and) to see all of those people come down and sit at the fairgrounds and watch those fireworks.”
It will start at dusk at the fairgrounds in Jefferson.
