Raccoon Valley Radio’s Severe Weather Action Team had a busy night providing live coverage during a few severe thunderstorms overnight.
We interrupted regular programming at 11:31pm Tuesday when the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Greene County, which expired just after 12:30am Wednesday. Another warning was issued at 12:19am for southeastern Greene County and northern Dallas County, which expired just before 1am. The final warning was for central Guthrie County and Dallas County from 12:49to 1:30am.
The storms brought periods of heavy rainfall, rolling thunder, strong winds and lightning. Tree limbs were reported to be done in a few places in Jefferson and the Sheriff’s office reported a falling tree branch had knocked down a power line on D Avenue between 140th and 150th streets. The secondary roads crew, Midland Power Cooperative and the Churdan Fire Department responded and cleared the scene. There were other tree limbs reported to be done throughout the county.
Four Raccoon Valley Radio staff members were at our stations providing live, wall-to-wall weather coverage during the storms. We were in contact with WeatherEye meteorologists and local law enforcement to bring listeners the information they needed to stay safe.
A video of the storm in downtown Jefferson can be found on our Facebook page HERE.
As always, you can count on the Raccoon Valley Radio Network’s Severe Weather Action Team anytime severe weather effects Greene, Guthrie or Dallas counties.
