Funeral services for Bernard “Bernie” Elmer Verkennes, 59, of Scranton, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016 at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home for one hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in the Junction Township Cemetery near Grand Junction.  In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established and memorials may be left at the funeral home.  Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton and online condolences may be left for the family at dahnandwoodhouse.com.

Bernie is survived by his mother Wanda June Hose of Turkey, North Carolina; his special friend for 15 years, Linda Gustoff, of Scranton; three brothers: Kelvin Verkennes of Clio, Michigan, Darrell Hose Vail, Iowa, and Daniel Hose of Lake City, Michigan; a sister Cathy Dues of Turkey, North Carolina; a step-daughter Jenny Gustoff of Scranton; four step-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
