Have you seen more and more people on their phones walking around lately, perhaps looking a little lost?  Odds are if they’re not texting or taking selfies they’re likely trying to “catch” virtual creatures.

The Pokemon Go mobile game launched in the U.S. last week and it has caught the attention of people of all ages.

There are however some safety concerns and Perry Police Chief Eric Vaughn says it’s important we don’t get too distracted.

“We just have to be around it when we’re doing that.  We see it with texting and driving and that type of thing but now we’re seeing it with Pokemon Go.  Just the other day I saw a couple people walking by the police department with their head in their phones.  We need to be aware and look around our surroundings so we don’t trip, so we’re not walking out into traffic.  Make sure you keep your head up and look up every once in a while from your phone.”

Additionally, Vaughn urges drivers to remain defensive and watch out for anyone who may be distracted and step out into traffic.
