Yesterday we looked at some of the final offensive numbers for the 2016 Greene County High School baseball team. Today we look at pitching and defense. Coach Mark Sawhill’s team was 11-17 and seventh in the Heart of Iowa Activities Conference with a 5-11 record.
The Rams had a collective team earned run average of 5.40 in 177-2/3 innings pitched. the staff gave up 246 hits and 195 runs, 137 of which were earned. Greene County pitchers walked 109 batters, hit 19 with pitches, and recorded 109 strikeouts. Opponents hit .246 against the Rams as a pitching staff.
Freshman Austin Delp had a 3-2 record with a 2.92 ERA in 36 innings. Senior Tyler Beger was 3-5 with an ERA of 5.32. Sophomore Wade Adcock threw 31-1/3 innings with a 6.93 ERA, and senior Branden Miller tossed 17 innings and his ERA was 3.71. Reliever Reid Lamoureux, a senior, had the top ERA among pitchers with at least 14 innings at 1.47.
Greene County was charged with 65 errors in 617 chances for a fielding percentage of .895.
