The Perry softball team was honored Monday night in a community send off held at the Perry Hy-Vee.  The event was sponsored by the Perry Hy-Vee, Raccoon Valley Radio Network and the Perry Community School District.  Hy-Vee provided a hamburger meal for the players and coaches while KDLS and the Big Red Radio provided the sounds including an audio highlight reel of this year’s post season run to state.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben, Activities Director Tom Lipovac and head coach Tina Kenney all addressed the crowd.

“We are so proud of what these girls have accomplished this season,” stated Ubben.  “It has been an amazing run and we look forward to a strong showing at the state tournament.”

The team took numerous photos and signed posters handed out during the event.

It has been a busy week off the field as the team prepares for its first state game in nearly two decades.  Dallas County Hospital provided a free lunch for the players and coaches Monday afternoon while McDonalds will provide a breakfast for them this morning.

Perry is planning one final send off today on Willis as Perry will leave the high school at 4:00 in their highly decorated bus.  The public is encouraged to gather on Willis and waive to the Jayettes as they leave town.

Perry will play Oskaloosa tonight in a 730 game in Fort Dodge.  You can listen to the game on KDLS and raccoonvalleyradio.com.
