The Nodaway Valley baseball team is eliminated in the first round of the Class 1A state tournament at the hands of first-seed and number one ranked Newman Catholic.
The Wolverines jumped out to an early 2-0 lead in the top of the first, but fell behind 11-2 after three innings and that’s where the score stayed until Newman Catholic scored again, and won, on a wild pitch in the bottom of the 6th.
Jackson Lamb and Tyler Vandewater had RBI’s for the Wolverines. Lamb, Corbin Bond and Brandon Mangles all took the mound for Nodaway Valley with Mangles having the best night. He pitched three innings, allowing two hits, walking two, but allowing no earned runs.
This was the Nodaway Valley baseball team’s first trip to the state tournament. They wrap up their season with a record of 19-11.
