The 2015-16 sports year for Greene County High School has been completed. Activities Director Dean Lansman talked with Raccoon Valley Radio about some of the highlights, starting with the first State Champion the Rams crowned in 21 years in any sport. Sophomore Megan Durbin was the Class 3A high jump winner in May at Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
Coach Lansman summer up Durbin’s accomplishments. “Megan winning both the Drake Relays and the State meet in high jump was really terrific. When you reach that caliber, that’s the top, that’s the best you can do in a calendar year, so it was great!”
Durbin will be a junior this fall. She plays volleyball and softball in addition to track and field. Not only was she the best female high jumper in the state in 2016 with a top clearance of 5′ 8″, which she did at the Drake Relays, Durbin qualified for the 3A State meet in the 100 meter dash.
