A free event this weekend takes you back to the early days of farming in Greene County in the early 1900’s.
The Old-Fashioned Threshing Bee is happening today and tomorrow on the Pleasant Prairie Farm and Foster Timmons Farm in Jefferson. Co-organizer Nick Foster invites everyone to come to their threshing demonstrations at 10am and 2pm today, followed by a steam plowing demonstration at 4pm.
“We’ll be plowing with at least two steam-traction engines that are actually sawed-breaking engines, that means these exact engines actually pulled these plows across the prairie when it was first broke. A couple of our engines are extremely rare, there’s one of them that’s only two of them in the world like it and another one there’s only four in the world.”
A free barbecue meal will also be served tonight at 6pm.
Sunday includes a tractor ride to Lohrville at 7am, followed by two more threshing demonstrations at 1 and 3pm.
The event is free and open to the public. It is located at 1176 M Avenue.
