To say Greene County High School senior Nick Schroeder is goal oriented and driven to succeed may be an understatement. He’s a two-time top eight place winner in swimming, a state track & field meet participant, and he comes  back to the football field this year as a returning all-district receiver as well as one of the top kickers the Rams have ever had.

When asked several months ago what he did for fun, Schroeder told Raccoon Valley Radio that he likes to go the Jefferson Fieldhouse and work out; for fun! Between practicing, lifting weights, doing other workouts, and competing, there hasn’t always been as much time for just being a teenager, but he’s not complaining because Schroeder’s goals are set high. “I want to play college football and I’m trying to be the best I can for our team this year. All of our team has been working really hard, so it should be a fun year.”

Greene County’s football camp wraps up tonight at the high school in Jefferson with official practice for all high school sports in Iowa getting underway on Monday, Aug. 8. The Rams open the 2016 football season in Carroll vs. the Kuemper Catholic Knights on Friday, Aug. 26.
