The Guthrie County Arts Council is allowing area youth to paint like one of the very best later this month.

The organization is hosting a Claude Monet Sunflower painting class for youth ages ten and up. Co-president Lynsi Pasutti says kids can create their own version of the famous work of art. “They’ll use some stencils, and work from Monet’s Sunflower painting in doing an interpretation of that. Students will look at the original of that, learn some history and then make their own sunflower painting using the stencils or freehand.”

It takes place Tuesday, August 16th at 6:30 p.m. at Art on State. Preregistration is required by calling 641-332-2267. Participation is limited to only six students.
