Emily HeupelOne Greene County 4-H’er will be busy at the Iowa State Fair.

Emily Heupel was recently selected to be on the State 4-H Council. She says the State Council allows her to be an ambassador to her counties that she’s responsible for, while also serving as the connection to the state 4-H program. She tells Raccoon Valley Radio that she wanted to be more involved in 4-H, just like past family generations have done before her.

“When I learned about this opportunity, I knew Kami Badger had been in it in the past and I knew she had a lot of fun. So I decided that I would fill out the application for it and was really exciting to be inducted.”

Heupel will help volunteer in the 4-H building on the State Fairgrounds in Des Moines and she will help plan activities for next year’s state 4-H conference. She encourages anyone to join the State 4-H Council.

“I just want everyone to know that it’s a great opportunity. I’m sure not everyone knows a lot about it. If they have the opportunity to try something new out, that’s something I would really recommend because it helps you grow as a person as well as helping your community grow.”

Heupel is entering her final year in 4-H, which she started when she was in the fourth grade.
