A new professional development program for coaches in the Heart of Iowa Conference will be implemented this year.
Greene County Activities Director Dean Lansman says the professional development programs will be held three times this upcoming school year. The first one is scheduled for August 15th at North Polk High School, which also includes speakers with three-dimensional coaching.
“Us AD’s are going to take some other different topics just to give coaches a little bit on how to handle some different situations that they’ve encountered. We’ve gone maybe through a little more training on. But at the same time it also gives them (the other coaches) an opportunity to maybe meet and mingle and learn some things from other coaches. We think it’s going to be a great opportunity for them.”
Lansman says the idea came about two years ago after discussions with other AD’s in the conference and they decided to have their own professional development.
The other two meetings will take place between the fall and winter sports seasons in November and then again in the spring.
You can hear more with Lansman on Monday’s Let’s Talk Greene County program.
