There wasn’t a lot of down time for a number of the current Perry volleyball players as they get set to open up a new school year and a new sports campaign. The Jayette volleyball squad reported for the first time this past Monday and features a high number of softball players fresh off the state tournament. Johanna Diw enters her junior year as one of the main offensive weapons for Head Coach Kristel Kautzky-Schultz and tells Raccoon Valley Radio that the transition has been smooth.
“Well, it certainly has been a challenge but a rewarding one,” smiled Diw. “The biggest adjustment for us has been the increased conditioning in practice. We are in to our 12 days of volleyball and we have already had a couple of practices where we have run a mile before practice even starts. In fact, we’re doing another mile tomorrow but fortunately its getting easier every time.”
Diw will look to be a key contributor this season especially early on with the injury to Grace Marburger.
