Today will embark week two of practices for all ADM fall sports including the Tiger cross country teams.

The Tigers have taken big strides both literally and figuratively through their first week of practices giving head coach David Zwank a rough starting point as he starts his assessments of the team so far. While the first week of practices are good starting points, coach Zwank and his Tiger teams are not just practicing for the next event ahead, but in the hunt for October. Raccoon Valley Radio sat down with coach Zwank as he talked about his assessments of the first week for his team as they look to progress and gear up all for the end of the season.

” That’s the one thing about this sport is working towards the end of the season is key. Where we’re at now is where we have to build on but all of that is to get towards conference, state qualifying, and the state meet as well. Whether or not an athlete is in that category of getting to the state meet or do well at the state meet, certainly the end of the season is when we want all of our athletes to peak and give their best efforts. Getting those time trials in the first couple days to assess conditioning,” stated coach Zwank.

The ADM cross country teams will have a little while yet to continue on their preparation before their first meet of the season in Urbandale taking on a host of teams including Inidanola, Urbandale, Dowling-Catholic, Earlham, and Des Moines Hoover. That meet will commence at 9:00 am on Saturday September 3rd.
