Greene County head volleyball coach Donna Carhill has a squad with five experienced players back from the 11-17 team of a season ago. Nadia Fisher was second team all-conference in the Heart of Iowa following last season. Megan Durbin and Hannah Promes were both on the honorable mention list. Kenna Marquardt is a returning Captain and Hannah Stein also lettered. What the Rams don’t have is a lot of height, so the coach is emphasizing defense. “When you don’t have a kid over six foot in your front row defense, we’ll touch some balls, but we’re not going to be the big team that nobody can get through in the front row. So, our back row has to be very tenacious, very brave, very give it all on the back, and that’s what  we’re going for right now, and they seem to be rising to the occasion there.”

The Rams open the season on Tuesday, Aug. 30 at Saydel High School in Des Moines vs. the host Eagles and the Gilbert Tigers in a Heart of Iowa Activities Conference triangular.
