WCV High SchoolAlong with all of the students at West Central Valley High School, today is also the first day of school in Stuart for new principal Rusty Shockley.

He tells Raccoon Valley Radio that although he’s new to town, he’s no stranger to the field of education. He has nearly three decades of experience, all in smaller, rural districts. “I’m in my 29th year of education. I taught vocational agriculture and was an FFA advisor for the first 20 years of my career, at a couple of different schools. I’m in my ninth year as a high school principal, six years at Central Lee High School and two years at Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn before coming here to Stuart to start at West Central Valley.”
Shockley says the district’s impressive facilities and location in central Iowa were what initially attracted him to the job. He’ll tell us more about himself today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
