Greene County RamsThe special election for the Greene County Schools proposed $19.4 million bond to add onto the elementary and high schools is scheduled for September 13th. Those who would like to vote early can do so later this month.

According to the Greene County Auditor’s office, there will also be a special election to fill a vacancy on the Board. In January, the Board appointed Mike Dennhardt to Susan Burkett’s seat, but now the seat must be filled by a special election until the term end in 2017.  Candidates that will be on the ballot include Dennhardt and Jonathon Hinote.

Superintendent Tim Christensen urges everyone to vote, either by absentee or on September 13th.

“That’s the biggest thing again as a school district and education, we’ve got democracy (and) we want people to exercise their right to vote. No matter how they vote, I just hope everybody gets out and does vote.”

You must fill out a request for an absentee ballot at the Auditor’s office. Once the absentee ballots are available, one will be mailed to you.
