The candidates are set for the November general election for all available federal and state offices.
Those running for state legislative seats in Greene County include Iowa Senate District 24, Democrat Keith Puntenney of Boone is challenging Republican incumbent Jerry Behn, who is also from Boone. Iowa Representative District 47 has Republican incumbent Chip Baltimore of Boone going up against Democrat challenger Deb Duncan, also of Boone.
United States Representative District 4, which Greene County is a part of, candidates include Republican incumbent Steve King and Democrat candidate Kim Weaver. There are five candidates running for US Senate and those include Republican Charles Grassley, Democrat Patty Judge, Libertarian Charles Aldrich, New Independent Party of Iowa candidate Jim Hennager and Michael Luick-Thrams was nominated by petition.
Those looking to run for the available Greene County offices, which includes supervisor district one, four and five, along with sheriff and auditor have until August 31st to file nomination papers. If a political party candidate is already nominated for an office, then an individual can either run unaffiliated from a party or hold a special party convention to be nominated.
