It’s the first day of the 2016 season for the Greene County High School cross-country teams, as well as Boone girls’ swimming and diving, which has six Greene County students on its team.
Coach Kelly Simpson’s cross-country squads go to the Iowa State University Course in Ames for the 4:30 p.m. running of the Gilbert Invitational. Some 26 programs are scheduled to be represented at the meet. Greene County has 12 girls, but just five boys out for cross-country. Senior Olivia Hansen is the most experienced and most decorated of the Rams.
Boone’s swimming and diving team is at home tonight vs. both Grinnell and Des Moines Lincoln. Greene County juniors Haley Hall and Ashley Hunter are joined by four Greene County freshmen to make up the group of six from here that is swimming for the Toreadors.
