The Greene County Medical Center Board of Trustees met Thursday in regular session.
The Board heard an update on Medicaid privatization with the Managed Care Organizations. Don Royer with Iowa Hospital Association reported that over 565,000 Iowans are patients with one of three MCO’s including Amerigroup, Amerihealth and United Healthcare. The average MCO is losing about $50 million in the first quarter. IHA is putting together a payment policy workgroup and a technical advisory group to help ease some of the issues with the transition.
During the financial report, at the end of the first month of the 2016 fiscal year, the hospital is operating at a $180,982 loss. The revenues were slightly behind the expenses at $1,768,813 and $2,098,83 respectively.
The Board then approved $161,100 payments per year for three to update the hospital’s Microsoft licensing programs. Payment will be made through Home State Bank with a 3.5 percent interest rate.
Following an update on the critical access medical center annual report, the Board approved $130,900 to replace the hood in the pharmacy chemotherapy department. The Board also approved the voluntary relinquishments of Dr. Jamie Dodge in emergency medicine and Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner Rebecca McCann in family medicine. A special meeting will be held to finalize documentation for the USDA closeout project.
Finally, the meeting ended in a closed session to evaluate Chief Executive Officer Carl Behne.
