Greene County residents are reminded that the first-half of property taxes are due by September 30th.
Greene County Treasurer Donna Lawson says tax statements have been sent out to county landowners and typically property taxes are paid through a mortgage company. However, if an individual can’t pay their first-half of property taxes, Lawson says other arrangements can be made.
“If you’re not able to come up with the full amount by September 30th, you’re welcome to come in and make an installment payment on that until you can get that one paid. That is no problem, you do not have to sign anything, you’re on your honor, but we’re willing to work with you on that.”
Due to October 1st being on a Saturday this year, landowners have until October 3rd to pay their property taxes, otherwise 1.5 percent will be charged per month until your taxes are paid. The second half property taxes are due next March.
