Heart of Iowa Habitat for Humanity is gearing up for their third Greene County project this summer.
Associate Director Jeff Lamoureux says after finishing their first two projects in Scranton for the Travis Edwards family at 903 8th Street and at 607 West State Street in Jefferson for Lisa Aldrich, they are now starting their third project in Rippey for Randy and Jamie Glass at 205 Cartwright Street. The exterior repairs include a new roof, siding, windows and doors. For the second consecutive year, John Deere in Paton will team up with the local Habitat branch to help make the repairs to the Glass residence for the week beginning September 12th.
Lamoureux notes the improvements to the Edwards home included a new roof, fascia board, gutter and downspouts, replacing siding to damaged areas and cleaning and painting the house. As for the Aldrich home, a new roof was installed along with new fascia board.

Even though a majority of the work is done with church groups, Lamoureux points out that they will accept volunteers at anytime.
“If anybody wants to work. They don’t particularly have to on the Saturday that their (church) congregation is working, if they have a Saturday that say, ‘Hey, I would like to go out go out and help Habitat for Humanity work on a house, they can always give me a call, or shoot me an email, or stop by the office and let me know and I’ll put them down.”
They are also looking for projects to do for 2017 in Greene County. For more information, stop by their main office at 114 South Chestnut Street in Jefferson.
