dc conservationThe Dallas County Conservation Board invites everyone to come learn more about local Native Americans this weekend.

The annual Prairie Awakening festival takes place Sunday at the Kuehn Conservation Area. This year’s focus is internationally known Sioux flute player Bryan Akipa.  The musician will be performing the flute stories and dances he grew up with.

The popular program aims to highlight the contributions area Native Americans have had on Dallas County.

It begins at 5pm and is expected to last until around 9pm.  Everyone is encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on, and a friend.
