As we’ve reported, Adair and Guthrie County Emergency Management are considering merging their two county commissions into one.
The Guthrie County Board of Supervisors re-addressed that issue at their meeting Tuesday. Emergency Management Coordinator Bob Kempf says in addition to being efficient, sharing services with Adair County also saves taxpayer dollars. “Basically, it would cost the citizens of Guthrie County approximately $40,000 a year more to support the budget all by themselves. So, by doing things with Adair County we’re saving about $40,000 each year that our county would be paying on its own, by splitting up those costs.”
Kempf is seeking a letter of support for the merger from the Board of Supervisors. The Adair County Board of Supervisors have already approved their letter of support.
