Greene County Fair Foundation raised about $204,000 at their Tuesday ag auction. Fair Board Secretary Doug Hawn says 61 bidders bought close to 100 ag products and services for over $104,000. Earlier in the day, he received a phone call from Cecil Reuter who said they would match up to $100,000 from the auction.

The money will be used to do some finishing touches like install sidewalks and relocating some of the water lines for the new swine and sheep barns on the fairgrounds, with the majority of the funds to be used to build a new beef barn.

Plans are to have the beef barn operational for the 2018 county fair.

Donations are still needed for the project. Donations and pledges can be made to the Greene County Fair Foundation at Home State Bank.
