retailer-mall-concept-in-jeffersonA new concept is being discussed involving possibly several businesses in Jefferson.

Greene County Economic Development Director Ken Paxton is exploring the idea of turning three buildings, including the former Hy-Vee Drug Store, Techzone and Ben Franklin into a retailer/artisan mall.

Different types of businesses that could be allocated for space by way of consignment, rent, lease or cooperative ownership includes arts, crafts and hobbies; homemade products or products sold online; antiques and collectables; unique gift ideas; unique foods, seasonings or beverages; and historic or souvenir products.

Paxton points out that those businesses that are web-based can have a chance to have a storefront and there’s a possibility of putting all businesses on the internet to sell their products as well.

The topic is being discussed and Paxton wants to gauge the interest level before more work is done.

If you are a business owner and are interested in the concept, you can contact Paxton at 386-8255 or email him at ken@greenecountyiowa.com.
