State and local authorities are investigating the fatal shooting of a Guthrie Center woman that occurred Sunday in Sac County.
The Sac County Sheriff’s office says at 11:38 a.m., the 24 year-old woman was driving north of the intersection of Highway 175 and Highway 71, east of Lake View, when a 9 mm handgun being handled by a male passenger reportedly accidentally discharged.
The bullet struck the female. She was taken to Loring Hospital in Sac City, and later airlifted to a Des Moines hospital where she died of her injuries.
The identities of both individuals involved are being withheld at this time, pending further investigation and autopsy results.
