Applications for Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation competitive grants for next year will be available starting October 1st.

Grant awards are for those projects that are $35,000 or more. Rules and restrictions can be found on GGCGC’s website through a link below. The competitive grant applications must be postmarked by January 31, 2017 to be considered. Any grant request that is less than $35,000, must be directed to the Greene County Community Foundation.

With their inaugural year of giving away over $900,000 in competitive grants, President Norm Fandel recounts how difficult of a situation it was for their nine-person board to choose the first-ever grant recipients.

“Anytime when you’re looking at the difficult side of who gets it and who doesn’t receive it and what reasons are given. So you kind of grab the top, take out a few at the bottom and keep working your way towards the middle. The Board came around fairly quick as far as what we felt would have a major impact throughout the county.”

There must be nine copies made and the applications must be mailed to Grow Greene County Gaming Corporation, P.O. Box 437, Jefferson, Iowa 50129. They will not accept online submissions.
