The Jefferson BPO Does recently made a donation to the Freedom Rock project.
A $1,000 check was presented by members of the Does, along with family members of the late Ruby Springer to members of the Jefferson VFW and American Legion. Does President Tina Nelson says they were given $500 by the Ruby Springer estate and she points out that donating the money, along with $500 from the Does to the Freedom Rock project was a great idea.
“We are all about being patriotic. The ‘P’ in our BPO Does stands for ‘Patriotic’, so Benevolent Patriotic Order of Does is what we stand for and it’s an excellent project. We want to make sure that people understand that we are all about helping our community, but we are also very patriotic.”
Artist Bubba Sorenson will be painting the rock during the week of October 16th.
Donations are still being accepted to continue to raise funds to install electricity for lights and a security camera. Donations can be made at People’s Trust and Savings Bank in Jefferson and checks can be made payable to the Greene County Freedom Rock.
