Guthrie Activity Center Board meets Monday night to elect new officers.

A new slate of officers will lead the Guthrie Activity Center in Guthrie Center.

Peoples Trust and Savings Bank Market President Dennis Flanery recently sent a letter to the Activity Center Board submitting his name for consideration to become President of the Guthrie Activity Center, under the condition that Jamie Patrick is elected Vice President, Lisa Calvert, CPA is elected Treasurer and Geri Thompson is elected Secretary. All four officers were elected by the Center’s Board Monday night.

In his letter, which you can read here, Flanery says he intends to ensure the facility’s success into the future, and grow the center into a meeting destination for area residents.

Board member Randy Nickel, who spoke in support of Flanery at Monday’s meeting, says the new regime may make changes to the Center, but will not eliminate any of the positive things already happening there. “That includes the senior dinners, the spaghetti dinners, card playing — all of those activities are going to continue. That’s not changing at all. The new officers are looking forward to maybe finding grants, increasing membership, planning some fundraisers so we can do some updates to the Center, including replace flooring and adding some social media — things like that.”
Nickel will give us an update of the organization today on Let’s Talk Guthrie County. It airs during the 9 a.m., noon and 5 p.m. hours on K107.9 and www.raccoonvalleyradio.com.
