sheriff-signA Bayard convenience store has been burglarized for the third time this year.

The Guthrie County Sheriff’s office says shortly before 4 a.m. on September 24th, Sparky’s One Stop was burglarized. Surveillance footage from the store showed three male suspects breaking glass on the front door and entering the store. They filled duffel bags with tobacco products and also stole alcohol.

Following an investigation, deputies and officers from the Coon Rapids Police Department executed a search warrant the following day at a residence in the 200 block of Main Street in Bayard, occupied by 20-year-old Collin Richards. Deputies located a large quantity of stolen alcohol and cigarettes in the residence. Richards was taken into custody and charged with possession of stolen property and possession of alcohol by an adult under 21. He was later charged with third degree burglary, second degree theft and third degree criminal mischief.

A second suspect, a minor from Coon Rapids, is charged with third degree burglary, second degree theft and third degree criminal mischief.

A third suspect has been identified, and the Sheriff’s office says charges are expected to be filed on them soon. The incident remains under investigation.
