For those of us that struggle to run one mile on a daily basis, try running an average of 70 miles per day for a month and a half.
That is the goal for a Boone man who is attempting to break the record for fastest time running across the United States of America. Pete Kostelnick is trying to break Frank Giannino Jr.’s record, set back in 1980, going from San Francisco, California to New York City in 46 days, 8 hours and 36 minutes. He started the endeavor from San Francisco on September 12th and is expected to be in New York by October 26th.
His route through Iowa follows mainly on Highway 30 and he is anticipated to pass through Carroll sometime later today and end around Jefferson this evening. His trip will take him to Boone, Ames and Cedar Rapids on his way to Illinois.
Anyone who wishes to run with Kostelnick can join him and support his effort this weekend.
Listen to Monday’s Community State Bank in Paton’s Let’s Talk Greene County program when we will have Kostelnick’s chef and massage therapist Cinder Wolff on to talk about the journey.
