Midwest Partnership Executive Director Sarah Truitt says close to 300 people have signed up for the third annual event. Several speakers have been lined up including Chamber and Development Council of Crawford County Executive Director Evan Blakely, Iowa Senator Bill Dotzler, Iowa Workforce Development Career Planner Lisa Smith, Carroll High School teacher Kent Muyskens, Iowa Workforce Development Director Beth Townsend, Rock Valley High School teacher Todd Vander Velde and Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds.

Truitt explains the overall goal of the event.

“The goal of the summit is to bring businesses and educators together in the same room to have conversations about workforce. How can the businesses help the educators and how can the educators help the businesses in attracting our workforce and retaining our workforce.”

Those invited to the summit include business owners, human resource directors, managers, school superintendents and other school administrators, teachers, community college representatives and students. She talks about why they wanted to give students the opportunity to attend this year.

“I believe they should have a seat at the table when we talk about our future and the workforce. Today’s students are our next generation workforce and our upcoming leaders.”

The summit will be from 9am to 3pm on Thursday at the Greene Room events center.
