Perry High SchoolSchool enrollments are being certified this week and the number of students in Perry this year is higher than administrators expected.

Superintendent Lynn Ubben says they’re pleasantly surprised to be up more than 30 students this year.

“We project in the spring and then we just move everyone up a grade, so we were kind of surprised.  We had projected the elementary at around 720 and it’s at 763 (students).  We projected the middle school at about 343 and they’re at 348.  The largest classed moved to freshmen, or ninth grade, so we projected the high school at about 575 and they’re at 598.  So even moving the classes in our projections, we’re better than expected.”

Ubben says those numbers are give and take as some students may not spend their whole day in the District.  She says any district she’s in, as long as enrollment numbers are even or up, she’s fine.

We’ll hear more from her on today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
