It’s a battle of two of the top three teams in class 1A’s district 6 tonight as Panorama welcomes in unbeaten powerhouse Van Meter for a late season district showdown.
The Panthers look for that elusive first victory against Van Meter ever since these two teams first played each other back in 2012. Going up against a Van Meter defense who’s only given up 6 points all season long Panorama head football coach Lyle Alumbaugh told Raccoon Valley Radio they key to acquiring a win against the Bulldogs tonight will be simply moving the ball and homing in on the little things.
“I think the biggest thing is being able to move the ball and get them stopped. They’re consistent in about everything that they do. They’ve got a bend but don’t break defense and they’ve been able to hold a lot of teams down as far as being able to run the ball or throw the ball. It will come down to the little things. Anytime your playing a team of that caliber the little things will get an awful lot bigger and it’s been one of the focuses all week; finish the blocks, finish the tackles, do the little things right and the big things will take care of themselves,” explained coach Alumbaugh.
The Panthers look to even up the playing field between these two teams aiming to hand Van Meter their first loss at the season at home tonight with kickoff set for 7:00 pm.
