dallas countyThe Dallas County Board of Supervisors met in regular session Tuesday.

At the meeting, payroll change notices for the Auditor’s office, Emergency Medical Services department and Sheriff’s office were all approved as presented.

Furnishing options for the 902 Court Street building were then presented.  All Makes Office Interiors submitted a proposal that Operations Administrator Rob Tietz says he was surprised and pleased with.  He says all offices will be keeping their current chairs and filing cabinets so those will not need to be purchased.  The Board approved the purchase of furniture up to $13,600.

The north campus construction project continues to move forward with the punch list items, according to Dana Wernimont with Design Alliance. The Board then reviewed a landscaping proposal for the north campus.  Tietz says they received two bids from the three companies they reached out to.  The goal is to shed water away from the building and keep the sidewalk level around it.  The Board approved a $15,210 proposal from New Age Landscaping.

Board Chairman Mark Hanson mentioned that in the first bond referendum for a law enforcement center and administrative building the total cost was around $22 million but the Board was planning to use $6 million that was on hand to reduce the bond total.  After that failed, Hanson said they instead used some of the $6 million to completely renovate the old county care facility into what is now the human services, or north, campus which he says was a good project for the tax payers’ dollars.  County Attorney Wayne Reisetter mentioned that there is not enough parking at the campus.  When he was there recently for a training, Reisetter said there were several vehicles parked on the grass and a line of men waiting to use the restrooms.  Otherwise he said it was a fantastic facility with great amenities.

A public hearing in regards to drainage district six was then held.  Justin Miller with McClure Engineering says they submitted a statement of completion for the project that had to do with main open ditch repair.  The final construction cost of the project is $552,773 to Cole Construction after the addendum.  The Auditor’s office will be sending out letters to landowners in the district after the first of the year outlining the cost and their options.  The Board approved the third pay estimate for the project in the amount of $59,307.

Engineer Al Miller then shared that the F31 paving project is complete and the R16 project should wrap up in the next week.
