Last week the ACGC Charger football team may not have ended up with the result that they would have liked, but they did end up playing one of their best games of the season.
It was a 49-6 final score that truly wasn’t indicative of just how well the Chargers played. Evidence of that can be found within the first half performance of the Chargers keeping it close at halftime. Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with ACGC head football Coach Mark McDermott about his thoughts on the game overall for his Charger team last week.
“It was nice for us to be in a competitive game as we got into half time and the kids were excited. We thought we had a good shot at going out there and doing a great job in the second half. The kids were very positive and pumped up to do their best. That was a nice feeling and a good thing to see and not going into halftime down 20-0 or 30-0 so that was definitely a positive and the kids responded. It was nice to go into halftime, talk about things, make some adjustments, and look forward to the second half,” stated coach McDermott.
One of the highlights for the Chargers against OA-BCIG was the efficiency of the passing game for the most part as freshmen quarterback Bryce Littler put up some solid numbers overall. Raccoon Valley Radio also spoke with coach McDermott on how the passing game highlighted the offense as a whole in last weeks match up.
“I think offensively we were able to move the ball through the air real well. Bryce Littler ended up 11/16 for 127 yards with one touchdown and one interception. That interception came right at half when we were trying to push it down. The passing game was a big plus and we hope to work on that,” explained coach McDermott.
The Chargers seek to spring off that solid passing game last week as they take on the district’s top team this Friday night against Logan-Magnolia at home on senior night.
