Greene County 4-H and New Opportunities are continuing their new Books and Boardgames Drive through the rest of this month.
Extension 4-H and Youth Coordinator Kayla Hyett says they will accept books for youth through teens and board games for ages up to 16. She points out why 4-H wanted to team up with New Opportunities to create a new fundraiser for area youth.
“We want to be able to give back to our community. We have our citizenship and our leadership (principles in 4-H) and this is a way for 4-H’ers to be able to give back to their community. When talking with New Opportunities, this is something that they really need. And so it’s a great opportunity for us to give back and then for New Opportunities gets to give those gifts to them (the area youth).”
Hyett adds that they have received over 150 items so far.
Anyone can drop off new or gently used books and boardgames to the Extension office in Jefferson through October 31st.
