It’s the season finale for the ACGC Charger football team as they wrap up their 2016 campaign with a home match up tonight against the districts top team in Logan-Magnolia.
The Chargers seek their first win of the season tonight as they honor their seniors on senior night looking to stop the 7-1 Panthers. Raccoon Valley Radio spoke with ACGC head football coach Mark McDermott about the big focal point for his team against Logan-Magnolia, which he states is stopping the prolific Panther rushing attack. Coach McDermott also stated that his team will have to do so with some new faces at the helm.
” They definitely like to run the ball so we’ve got to be ready for that. They’ve only passed probably 20-25 times all year so they’re going to be coming right at you. We’re also going to have to be healthy. That’s one of our main issues right now, we’ve lost a couple guys from (last) Friday night so we’re going to have to get a couple JV guys ready to go. Those would be our main focuses, get healthy and try and shut their run down,” explained coach McDermott.
Stopping the run would definitely go a long way for the Chargers as stopping the running game would mean stopping a Panther squad who has accumulated over 2,400 rushing yards on the season accounting for 32 touchdowns on the ground alone.
ACGC looks to end the season on a high note with a win on senior night-game kickoff is slated for 7:00 pm.
