Greene County travels west tomorrow night to Carroll to face Kuemper Catholic (Carroll) at Kuemper in a 7 p.m. Class 3A Region 2 volleyball semifinal. The Knights are ranked fourth after being in the number one spot much in the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union rankings. The Knights at 26-1 with their only loss coming late in the regular season to Class 1A number one ranked Janesville in the Hampton-Dumont tournament.

The Rams are 11-24 and advanced to the semifinals for the first time in recent years with a 3-0 victory over Atlantic (4-28) in Atlantic on October 20. Coach Donna Carhill’s Greene County team usually runs into Kuemper along the tournament trail, but not in the first round, as was the case in 2015.

The Greene County/Kuemper winner meets either Red Oak or Clarinda in Atlantic on Oct. 31 for the Region 2 title and the trip to the State Tournament.
