Thursday, October 20th

The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office asked the Greene County Sheriff’s Office to locate and advise a Greene County resident that a vehicle registered to him, was blocking a loading dock in Lake City. The owner was located and advised that he would be removing the car.

The Chief Deputy Sheriff was dispatched to the 600 block of North 18th Street in Grand Junction to investigate the theft of electricity by way of a tampered meter at the residence.

The Sheriff investigated the report of criminal mischief and trespassing around a home in the 1000 block of High Street in Scranton.

A deputy was advised of a resident in the 700 block of Harding Street in Churdan of hearing gunshots east of town.

A deputy was advised by a Scranton resident of purchasing a puppy on line for $300 and after sending a money order for that amount, was then advised that he was to send $760 for pet insurance to ship the animal. He did not comply with the latter dollar amount. The deputy called the phone number that was given and the call was promptly terminated when the deputy identified himself.

Friday, October 21st

A deputy issued a DNR salvage tag for a deer that had been struck and injured near Quest Avenue and 340th Street.

A deputy assisted a Juvenile Court Services Officer with locating and taking a juvenile female into custody for transport to a detention center.

A deputy was unable to locate an erratic and careless driver that was reported turning onto Highway 4 from Highway 141 in Guthrie County.

Saturday, October 22nd

A deputy was advised and spoke with a resident in the 700 block of State Street in Scranton, about a harassment concern.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a call in the 400 block of North Olive Street in Jefferson.

A deputy assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with the violation of a No Contact Order at a residence in the 300 block of North Chestnut Street in Jefferson.

A deputy was advised of several off road dirt bikes being ridden on the roadway in the 1400 block of D Avenue.

A deputy was advised but unable to locate several head of cattle that were reported to be along the roadway on Eaton Avenue, north of Scranton.

A deputy was dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident that occurred on Highway 144 ( U Ave. ) near 150th Street. A 2003 Buick Park Avenue that was being driven by Marcy Jeanne Burkhead 60, of Urbandale, was southbound on U Avenue when she was distracted and lost control of her vehicle. The car entered the west ditch, hitting a farm field drive way, causing the car to roll onto its top. Marcy Burkhead was not injured but her car was estimated to be a total loss.

A deputy was unable to locate two dogs that were reported to be running at large on South 11th Street in Grand Junction.

Sunday, October 23rd

A deputy checked an unoccupied vehicle that was off the roadway south of Jefferson on Highway 4.

A deputy was dispatched for a car-deer accident that occurred on Highway 30 near Hillcrest Avenue. A 2012 Chevrolet Cruze LS that was being driven by Joshua David Raymond 21, of Marshalltown, was eastbound on Highway 30 when a deer ran into the side of his car. Joshua Raymond was not injured but his car sustained an estimated $4000 in damages.

A deputy was advised of a dog running at large in the 1100 block of 244th Street. The owner of the dog was located.

A deputy was advised by the staff at the Greene County Medical Center ER of a cat that had bitten its owner at a residence in Churdan. The cat was determined to be current on its shots and no further action was needed.

A deputy initiated a traffic stop for speeding on 310th Street and E Avenue and subsequently arrested Dakota Rae Sheer 24, of Bayard, for Driving While Revoked. She was also issued citations for Excessive Speed, a Registration Violation and Failure to provide Security against Liability.

A deputy is investigating the driver of a vehicle that was reported to be Driving While Revoked in Churdan.

Two deputies’ assisted a Jefferson Police Officer with a call at the Cobblestone Hotel in Jefferson.

9:26 pm, a deputy is investigating a harassment concern in Grand Junction.

Two deputies were asked to assist the Boone County Sheriff’s Office with locating a male subject that was being pursued by a deputy, then ran on foot into the timber area around the YMCA Camp near Boone. The subject was later apprehended by the Boone County K-9 Unit.

Monday, October 24th

A deputy was asked to check several semi-tractor trailers that were parked off the roadway on Highway 30 near W Avenue. It was reported to the Sheriff’s Office that they were obstructing the view of drivers wanting to enter Highway 30 from W Avenue.

Four members of the Greene County Sheriff’s Office and the Iowa State Patrol assisted the Jefferson Police Department with two search warrants in Jefferson.

A deputy assisted the owner of several head of cattle with putting them back into the pasture near Eaton Avenue and 190th Street.

A deputy was dispatched to the 300 block of Anyer Street in Dana, for a harassment concern.

A deputy transported Jacob Ore 39, of Jefferson, to the Carroll-Greene County line to be to be taken into custody by a Carroll County deputy on outstanding Carroll County warrants. Ore was arrested earlier in the evening by a Jefferson Police Officer.

In all cases when a defendant has been charged, this is merely an accusation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
