Communities in Guthrie County will soon have their Beggar’s Nights and several families will be out in costumes and getting treats from people.

Sheriff Marty Arganbright recommends all youth stay with their parents or in groups with other kids while out trick-or-treating. Always remember to stay on the sidewalks and not dart out into traffic. He describes ways for people in costumes to be seen by drivers at night.

“Any reflective clothing is good (and) bright clothing. Dark clothing is hard to see, especially at night. So try to pick out a costume that has high visibility for the drivers out there.”

He suggests avoiding homes that don’t have their exterior lights on during your community’s Beggar’s Night.

“I’d go where the houses that their porch light on or their outside light, so that’s always something that says, ‘Yeah, come and knock on my door or trick-or-treat.’”

He urges everyone to stay safe and have an enjoyable Halloween.
