Award-winning History Boy Theatre Company in Jefferson is the Midwest premiere of a new rock musical called “Lizzie”.
It is the story of Lizzie Borden who killed her dad and stepmother with an axe in Massachusetts in the 1890s. Co-owner Robby Pedersen says they are the third theater company in the country to do the production.
“This year they announced the rights (for the show) were available and so we jumped on it and got it first. They’ve given the rights out to five or six cities, it’s like Dallas, and Detroit, and Washington D.C. and Jefferson, Iowa. And we’re first, we get to do it first.”
There are only four cast members in the show and they include Angie Pedersen, Trisha Emery, Jenny Wailes and Kellie Kramer who is the host of Iowa Public Television’s Iowa Outdoors. Angie Pedersen says performing the show in Jefferson has given them major exposure to other groups of people.
“I’m so proud of the work that we’ve put in, in our theater, that puts us in this place. And the attention that this is drawing to History Boy and Jefferson, from the whole state, because it is the Midwest premiere.”
Performance dates are on October 28th, 29th and 31st and November 4th. All shows are at 7pm and tickets cost $15. Saturday, October 29th’s show is sold out. This show contains adult content. To reserve a ticket, call Angie Pedersen at 515-370-4306.
