Jefferson is the place to be this Thursday for Halloween activities.
The evening kicks off with a Halloween party at the Greene County Community Center from 4 to 5pm. Kids and parents are encouraged to wear costumes and the kids will receive goodie bags. Plus there will be games. Parks and Recreation Director Vicky Lautner says the Greene County High School Interact Club helps run their event.
“They run our games for us (and) also if we do any facepainting or anything like that, they do that for us. They also help us tear down, which is really nice. We probably spend most of the afternoon getting it set up and they’ve been real good to help us take it down.”

Then from 5 to 7pm, the Jefferson Public Library will be putting on a skit in the basement. This year’s performance is “The Elves and the Shoemaker”. Kids will also receives treats at the library.
Finally, from 5 to 6pm, kids and parents can come to the downtown square in Jefferson for the Greene County Chamber’s Trick-or-Treat-Around-the-Square. Kids will get candy and other items from Chamber member business around the square. Office Assistant Sheilah McGregor Pound talks about her favorite part of the Chamber event.
“You find the most interesting costumes (and) the kids are loving it. The family is with them, parents and grandparents even. That’s probably the most impressive (part is) to see our community people coming up and taking part in an event that’s happening around the square.”
All events are free and open to the public.
