The quarterfinal round of the Iowa high school football playoffs are tonight around the state. Included in the field of 48 over six classes are three teams the Greene County Rams lost to in 2016. The Rams were 1-8 playing one of Class 3A’s toughest opponent schedules at 54-30. Kuemper Catholic (9-1) is in the 2A field tonight with Boone (8-2) and Webster City (9-1) meeting in a 3A quarterfinal tonight in Webster City. That’s a rematch of week 9 when the Lynx won 21-14 to capture the District 2 title.

Greene County head coach Dean Lansman told Raccoon Valley Radio, “We played some good teams including the three in the quarterfinals. There were three other teams in our district that each went 6-3, so we had five good teams in our district, and obviously Kuemper Catholic is a very good 2A team.”

Tonight’s winners advance to next week’s semifinals inside the UNI-Dome in Cedar Falls.
