art-on-the-prairieThousands of people are expected to fill the streets and buildings of downtown Perry this weekend for the eighth annual Art on the Prairie.

Co-founder Jenny Eklund says the event has become more than they even dreamed of and is something many look forward to each year.

“The thing about Art on the Prairie is when you pull into town, we will capture as many people as live in our community.  It’s almost like the sidewalks are moving.  You’re going to see all these activities and you’re going to hear music and you’re going to sample wine and you’re going to buy all your gifts for the holidays.  You just see this energy and this excitement.  Our whole town comes to life.  It’s a thrill.”

Eight downtown Perry buildings will be full of more than 100 Iowa artists, musicians and poets this Saturday and Sunday.

We’ll have more with Eklund and co-founder Mary Rose Nichols on today’s Perry Fareway Let’s Talk Dallas County program.
